1. Most of our yarns are sold in twisted skeins, not pre-wound balls. You will need to wind the yarn into a ball before using it.
2. One end of the skein is tucked into a small opening at the other end. Simply pull that tucked end out of the hole, and the twist will loosen.
3. Spread out the loosened yarn into a circle. You can use two chair backs or ask a friend to hold up their arms to help support the loop while you wind. (If you are winding finer yarns, it can take a very long time — in that case, it’s best not to trouble a friend. We also offer an optional winding service if needed, please click the bottom below)
4. Sometimes the yarn’s two ends are easy to find after untwisting; other times, they might be tied together.
5. Once you find the two ends, carefully untie or snip the figure-eight ties (there may be three, or sometimes just one).
6. After cutting the ties, you can start winding from one end. Slowly, the skein will transform into a beautiful yarn ball, ready to use.
If it's still a bit hard to imagine just by reading the instructions, feel free to take a look at the demonstration by the Tibetan aunty.
