Icelandic designer Brynja Björk has a remarkable ability to create shawls that capture attention at first glance. As with many of her previous designs, this pattern combines bold color play, a rich variety of stitch techniques, and thoughtfully structured sections that create a wonderful sense of rhythm. The result is a shawl with a strong personality that is just as enjoyable to knit as it is to wear.
Perhaps the most captivating feature of this design is its elegant and intricate lacework. The lace sections feel light and airy, full of depth and movement, while the brioche border adds stunning texture and dimension. With each transition in stitch pattern and color, the knitting process remains engaging and rewarding, making it a project that brings pleasure from cast-on to bind-off.
For the original sample, Brynja chose a combination of yak-merino yarn and silk mohair, creating a fabric that is wonderfully soft and warm. Here in Taiwan, however, we decided to interpret the design in a completely different way using our newly released Linen Silk yarn, exploring how the shawl might look and feel in a summer fiber blend.
For our Linen Silk version, we intentionally selected a palette of soft, low-contrast colors with subtle fluorescent undertones. Combined with the cool touch of linen and the crisp stitch definition of the fabric, these colors highlight the beauty of both the lace and brioche sections while reflecting the refreshing shades we long to see and feel during the heat of summer.

Whether you are drawn to the warmth and softness of the designer’s original version or our summer interpretation in Linen Silk, each offers its own unique charm. The choice of yarn transforms the character of the design entirely, creating two distinct yet equally beautiful expressions of the same shawl—both inspiring, and both well worth knitting.
