Humble Woolen

When I first touched the wool of the Small-tailed Han sheep, I instantly fell in love with its fluffiness and airy softness. These sheep are highly adaptable animals, able to live in many environments. Though often raised for meat, I was surprised by how charming their wool felt.

We make this yarn in a woolen-spun style to preserve the natural crimp and the air held between the fibers, making the strand lofty and light. And because the fleece is unbleached, it still carries subtle shades of grey and white, giving the entire series a misted warmth — a gentle, blurred tone that feels both quiet and alive.

It may not be as delicate as yak down, but it holds a humble, everyday beauty of its own. Its lightness and just-right softness make it perfect for all kinds of daily wear — hats, shawls, sweaters, gloves, etc. Used alone or in Fair Isle patterns, it gives every piece a gentle depth and warmth, like softness woven out of air and time.
