Feathery Yak

This 274m / 50g woolen-spun Feathery Yak is light and delicate, yet retains the essence of woolen spun—airy, warm, and soft. Instead of being combed into uniform fiber strands, it is spun directly from loose, fluffy fibers, making it ideal for the short-staple nature of yak wool. That day, I finished knitting a beanie—using two strands held together, no less—and it only took 50g, an unbelievably lightweight result.

The colors in this series are also distinct from our other hand-dyed collections. Besides preserving the natural gray and brown tones, all other colors are dyed over a natural gray base(as opposed to the usual white base). This results in a palette that, while less bright, offers greater depth and richness—subtle, yet captivating.

Although this yarn is mill-spun rather than hand-spun by the Tibetan artisan in our workshop, being 100% yak down, it still evokes a deep connection to the Tibetan Plateau in our minds. Inspired by elements of daily life in the region, we have named this Feathery Yak series with references to its land, materials, and traditions—hoping that beyond its lightness and charm, it also carries a unique imprint of Tibetan textures, culture, and memories.
