Zanete Hussain This piece is the sixth design in knitting designer Zanete Hussain’s Yoke Meditation series. Inspired by the art of mandalas, it offers a gentle refuge from the busyness of everyday life—an invitation to slow down, breathe, and slip into a calmer rhythm.
Following the rise and fall of the yoke motifs, you may find your focus settling naturally into a quiet creative flow. Round by round, the stranded colourwork unfolds into a meditative wander through pattern and colour. It feels like stepping into a quiet inner space, where each repeat leads you a little further inward.
Zanete Knits' Version — Cloudy Alpaca
The designer version uses a gradient alpaca mohair as the contrast color. As you knit, the tones deepen little by little, adding rich layers and depth to the finished piece. Soft, airy alpaca mohair brings warmth and comfort, and the worsted weight makes the knitting rhythm light, smooth, and pleasantly quick.
Shangdrok's Version — Humble Woolen
When we first saw this motif, we couldn’t help thinking of the Tibetan landscape: highland rolling hills leading to towering cliffs and snowy peaks in the distance. But on a closer look, it feels like something lies beneath those hills—almost like the Dwarven underground kingdom from The Lord of the Rings. That bold, straight-lined geometry echoes dwarven script and stonework: under heavy rock strata, you can imagine relief carvings on colossal stone columns, with long stairways descending farther and farther into something deeper, darker, and more mysterious.
With these interwoven visions in mind, we chose our Humble Woolen yarn—earthy in character, richly textured, and quietly rugged—and then selected a set of shades to match our Shangdrok version of Yoke Meditation.

*This design runs small as the thicker fabric of this sweater reduces some of the ease. If you're comparing it to a thinner sweater, it's best to add an extra 10-15 cm / 4-6” of ease to prevent it from feeling too tight.

*For the Humble Woolen version, we used 5.0 mm needles and held the yarn double-stranded. The gauge is 16 sts / 22 rows. We knitted according to the pattern's Size 2, and the finished bust circumference came out to be 86 cm, which is even smaller than the pattern's Size 1.
As a rough guideline, choosing a size one size up from your bust measurement will give a close fit, while two sizes up will give a relaxed fit. For example, if you want a relaxed fit but like the finished bust measurement of Size 2, you should purchase the yarn quantity listed for Size 4.
